The Power of Homemade Bread

Right on the front page of the Deseret News is our precious and adorable President Lono (who was sustained as an Area Seventy at conference) and our equally as precious and adorable Angel of Angel's omelets (we've posted here pictures of Angel making fufu and treating us like celebs).   We received this clip just this morning from Hugh and Marcy Matheson who are our dear SLC friends and hope that they will soon return to Kinshasa.

Homemade bread- Our neighbors the building in the back ground is College Saint Joseph.  1,800 top male students in Kinshasa.

Mr. l'Abbe Didier Iyungu.  The very charming school recteur who expounds profundities to the boys each morning over a microphone in the school courtyard.  Our kitchen overlooks and we listen.   He has become our good friend and when we went by to take him a loaf of homemade bread I was quite delighted to see him in a traditional Congolese shirt.   I definitely need to get one made for Ro.
Our friend Eloi Kupakwanzambi ‏. This lovely man has endured pain and agony that is heartbreaking and yet he has a constant smile on his face.  He has become our very dear friend.  He rents a 2 hecktar (5 acres) plot of land a three hour drive each way from Kinshasa. "Because I am proud to be a farmer," he reports.   His dear friends Ro and Glo have been frequent recipients of the produce to include gigantic avocados, plantain, tomatoes, carrots,  and more.  Giving him a loaf of bread was akin to a bag of gold.  Such a gracious recipient Eloi.

Note:  one of us couldn't wait to dive right in to his rightful loaf!
